Comfort Food From Louisiana

Cajun, Creole and Southern Comfort Food: The city of New Orleans is our most famous.

Our melting pot of food came from centuries of history and the cultures of Spain, France, Sicily, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Lebanon, the Caribbean and Africa as well as a sizable Jewish culture in New Orleans and Baton Rouge - a wild mix! Today's newer immigrants adding to our Louisiana flavor are from Vietnam and Mexico.

In the process of how all these diverse groups learned to live together a wonderful culture of food was born and is cultivated to this day.

Welcome!

Come into my kitchen, relax and eat well! It's a tradition here in south Louisiana to trade recipes and talk about food like other people talk about the weather. Advice and tips buzz around like Junebugs in summer!

Louisiana is an interesting place. It is like a little piece of Europe planted in America, especially New Orleans. Each city and town has its own flavor in Louisiana from my Baton Rouge to New Orleans to Lafayette.

As this blog grows there will be historical and cultural articles along with the recipes so sit back and enjoy!

Comments are welcome. If you want me to take a look at your website or blog then feel free to send your notice to: warriorspearl@gmail.com. If it fits any of my blogs I’ll be glad to include your link. Thank you for your cooperation!

Marti Gras colors: It's so New Orleans! For those that don't know, purple and gold are also the colors of Louisiana State University (LSU). Purple, green and gold are associated with Marti Gras. Gold is symbolic of Power. Purple is symbolic of Justice. Green is symbolic of Faith.

Laissez le bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!)

Keep grinning! Denny
